DSD COMPETITIVE DANCE TEAM - 2023 -24
General Information
Our D.S.D. Competition Team is a traveling competitive dance team. We travel the East coast to attend our events. We welcome rising 5th - 12th graders to audition. Please note that age/grade will not determine team placement; technique and ability will be the determining factors for team placement. The team meets weekly on Wednesdays and there is an additional tuition fee for team. All team members are required to participate in fundraisers and purchase costumes as well. 2023-24 Auditions:
Sunday, August 13th
2 - 4pm, at the DSD Studio
Audition Requirements:
● MUST be enrolled in ballet and jazz classes with DSD
● Required to have AT LEAST 2 years of ballet
● RISING 5th GRADE (5th grade Fall 2023) and up
● Must be able to execute a clean single and double pirouette (both sides preferred).
● Full splits (both sides preferred).
● Exhibit stage presence
● Controlled fouette turns (PREFERRED)
Audition participants will learn new combinations and be separated into groups to demonstrate their mastery of the material for the coaching team. Participants will be observed during warm-ups and will be asked to demonstrate various skills including jumps and turns across the floor.
Following tryouts, you will be notified about the results via email. We will have a parent/student meeting on Wednesday, August 23rd at 6:30pm to discuss the plans for the upcoming season.
