DSD COMPETITIVE DANCE TEAM - 2025-26
General Information
Our D.S.D. Competition Team is a traveling competitive dance team. We travel to attend our events, but most events are less than 4 hours away. We welcome school-age students ages 10 & up by September 30, 2025, to audition. Please note that age/grade will not determine team placement; technique and ability will be the determining factors for team placement. The team meets weekly on Wednesdays from 6 - 8:30 p.m., and there is an additional tuition fee for team. All team members are required to participate in fundraisers and purchase costumes as well. 2025-26 Auditions:
Tuesday, August 12
4:30 - 6:30 pm, at the DSD Studio
Audition Requirements:
Audition participants will learn new combinations and be separated into groups to demonstrate their mastery of the material for the coaching team. Participants will be observed during warm-ups and will be asked to demonstrate various skills including jumps and turns across the floor.
Following tryouts, you will be notified about the results via email. We will also have a parent/student meeting (TBA) to discuss the plans for the upcoming season.

Audition Requirements:
- MUST be enrolled in weekly ballet and jazz classes with DSD
- MUST have completed ballet and jazz classes the previous year
- Required to have AT LEAST 2 years of ballet
- RISING 5th GRADE (5th grade Fall 2024) and up
- Clean pirouette (double and both sides preferred)
- Working on fouette turns (preferred)
- Full splits (both sides preferred)
- Jumps: Side leap (both sides preferred), Calypso
- Ability to learn choreography quickly
- Exhibit stage presence
- Good work ethic
- Strong attendance
- Good attitude
- Ability take corrections
- Hip Hop Requirements: 1 year of hip hop preferred; currently enrolled in weekly Hip Hop with DSD, execute baby freeze pose
