General Information Our D.S.D. Competition Team is a traveling competitive dance team. We travel the East coast to attend our events. We welcome rising 4th grade-12th to audition. Please note that age/grade will not determine team placement. Technique and ability will be the determining factors for team placement.
Expectation & Requirements
All members will be required to attend our Wednesday rehearsals. Each team member is allowed only TWO excused absent rehearsals without prior approval by head coach, Tiffany Allen. Attendance is mandatory and expected as we move very quickly through choreography.
A doctor’s note is required for injuries of any kind. Explaining limitations and the release date to return to normal activity.
Students must also be enrolled in weekly ballet & jazz classes with our studio to audition and participate on team.
We participate in four competitions each Spring. Team members and families are required to hold the full weekend for those events as performance times are not released by the competition until the week of the event in most cases. Competition schedule is released before Christmas break.
If performing before 2:00pm, and competing more than 30mi. from King William, team members are required to travel the evening before as we meet as a team 1-1.5 hours ahead of our scheduled performance time for mandatory group warm-up and routine review. No exceptions will be made.
Audition Information
Auditions will be held on Saturday, August 20 th from 8:30am-12:30pm at the studio.
Results will be emailed to those that auditioned on Friday, August 26 th . This communication will also include the date and additional details pertaining to our annual meet and greet.
Audition Requirements
Dancer must have at least 2 years of ballet training.
Dancer must be enrolled in at least weekly Ballet & Jazz classes with DSD
Dancer must be capable of doing a front split.
Dancer must be capable of doing or working on controlled fouette turns.
Dancer must be capable of doing or working on controlled double pirouette turn.
Performance attitude is a must (ability to display emotion on stage)
Each dancer will be required to demonstrate a solo audition piece in the genre of their choice for the judges.
This routine should be a minimum of 1:00 and maximum of 2:00 minutes.
Tuition & Costume Cost break-down
Costume fees $65.00 per routine. Most team members participate in 2+ routines.
First semester tuition (Sept. - Dec.): $60.00 due at the beginning of each month
Second semester tuition (Jan. – May): $60.00 due at the beginning of each month
