Tickets: On Sale starting May 8 ***All tuition and costume money must be paid before tickets are purchased. Ticket price $8:00 per seat. (preschoolers in laps are free ) The show on Friday night will include the entire school. Tickets for Friday night performance will be limited to 4 tickets PER FAMILY. The shows on Sunday will be split according to age groups. This will allow families to acquire more tickets. We will allow families to purchase at least 8 tickets to the shows on Sunday. I always have left over tickets for all shows, so getting extras should not be a problem. I have to limit initially to make sure everyone is given equal chance to purchase what they need. All left over tickets will go on sale at 6:30pm on Wednesday evening during the dress rehearsal. Only a few families will be affected by the two shows on Sunday. These parents will only have to purchase one Sunday ticket that will be good for both shows on Sunday. I will try to put those two dances (Sr. Acro and Jr. Pom) at the end of first show and beginning of second show, so no one has to stay for entirety of both shows. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to beginning of shows.
DRESS REHEARSAL: Rehearsal for Younger Students (grades preschool – third grade) will begin by 3:30 on Wednesday, May 17. The dress rehearsal is a great time for your child to watch other dances. During the dress rehearsal each class will rehearse its dance twice on stage. This allow students to become accustom to lights and spacing on stage. We will do our best to keep things moving. It is a very long night. Because it is a long night, we cannot wait to run numbers, so please be on time and ready to take the stage. We have organized the dress rehearsal so no one has to be there for the entire time. Grades fourth and up must report by 6:00. Everyone must be present for the finale (6:00-6:30). Younger students are free to leave after the finale. Older students are free to leave after they have rehearsed their dance or dances on stage, but please remember students will not be allowed to sit in auditorium or on the sides of the stage the night of the performances to watch dances. We will post an order of the rehearsal. We will do our best to stay true to schedule. *** The dress rehearsal is not the order of the recital.**** FULL DRESS REHEARSAL means full costume and make-up. Hair should be pulled up in a bun. We do ask that students wear foundation, blush, eye shadow, mascara and lipstick. When make-up is not worn, students looked washed out under the lights. We will only be using a few dressing rooms on Thursday night. Students may change in the lobby bathrooms of the auditorium and small side dressing rooms. Students are expected to sit in auditorium during the dress rehearsal. On Friday and Sunday, students will be in classrooms to dress and wait. If your student wears a bra, please make sure that it has clear straps and the back cannot be seen. We encourage students not to wear underwear with costumes, but if you must, please make sure it is nude color.

The Dress Rehearsal is for dancers and parents. Please try to leave siblings at home if possible. If you must bring siblings, please remember that you are responsible for them at all times. They are not allowed to wander in the halls or around the auditorium. We also ask that you keep siblings with you during the recital. Bored siblings will not be allowed to wander in and out of the auditorium. We do have someone monitoring the doors. The doors will be kept closed while classes are performing. NO FOOD OR DRINKS ARE ALLOWED IN THE AUDITORIUM. You will be asked to leave if caught with food in the auditorium. Please make sure that every ticket holder is aware of the food and drink policy in the auditorium. Our ability to use the auditorium in the future depends on how well we enforce this rule. We can not stress this enough.. Please eat snacks in the hall. If you must send food for your child to eat during the recital in the dressing rooms please limit it to water and non-messy snacks. We have had a problem in the past with huge messes in the dressing rooms.
Items of Note for Rehearsal and Recital: We will also be selling DVDs of the recital for $25.00, for this reason we cannot allow videotaping of the recital on Friday night. You are free to tape during the dress rehearsal and on Sunday. This will be a fundraiser for our trip to Disney 2024. This is an opportunity for dancers in grades 6-12 enrolled in ballet or jazz to perform at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
We will also be selling DSD Dance Apparel through Inkt Va again this year. You may purchase apparel online and it will be delivered the week before Recital. This is also a fundraiser for Disney. Both of the above fundraisers help to cover the cost of the bus that transports our DSD Dancers to Florida.
Britney York will be be taking individual pictures at the Dress Rehearsal. Her packages and prices will be forthcoming.
Tights orders due by Monday, May 1: Get the correct tights and support the Student Dance Company! Order forms are in the "Company" pouch to the right of the office window, and instructions (along with size chart) are to the left of the office window. Child size are $8, Adult are $10. Thank you for your support!
We will be offering summer classes. We will be posting class opportunities within the week. You may register at dress rehearsal, recital and on line. Classes will be a full week. We are hoping to offer something for everyone.
The Competition Dance Team will also be selling flowers on Friday and Sunday. They will be taking pre-orders two weeks ahead of recital at the studio. The Team will be going to Nationals in Myrtle Beach this June. This fundraiser will help with those competition fees. Prices will be forthcoming. It has become a tradition to give flowers to the dancers at the end of performances. This is not mandatory by any means, but only you know how your child will respond to this situation. You are also not required to purchase flowers from the company. They are just providing a service.
Of Interest: The Student Dance Company show "Legendary" at 6:00 pm on Saturday, May 6th @ HHMS. The Company is completely student choreographed and directed. Admission is free but donations are accepted and welcomed. These young ladies have been working hard all year preparing for their own show. Students as young as fourth grade have choreographed and taught dance numbers to their peers. Future dance teachers are found in this group. It is open to all students fourth grade and up that are enrolled at DSD. Auditions are held in the fall. Come out and see what the students of Dawn's School of Dance have been creating.
